To be honest with you, I think that this whole tug of war with Elon Musk and European regulators is a clever bit of theatre.

He turned our entire auto industry upside down by making the cars “affordable” - he gets them out the door, and you certainly save on electricity vs fuel, but the insurance went through the roof because basically most claims end up totaling the car, with how expensive the repairs are… it’s not really sustainable and they’re hard to work on by 3rd parties without Tesla support.
My thesis with electric cars in general, is that they are a stepping stone to the abolishion of private car ownership.
I've been contested on that several times, but I've learn't in the past to go with my gut.
