Some of the autumn berry bushes are loaded this year. When fully ripe the thorns soften and you can run your hand along the branches to harvest them.
I am noticing more variety in flavor, form, and wild life using them. More bug damage to the leaves as well. This suggests to me that they are naturalizing
All you native plant maxis, please consider the good aspects of this wonderful plant. They are here to stay, despite what the poison companies want you to believe. Control and utilization rather than eradication is the way forward. I like to plant trees underneath them and prune them aggressively on occasion, to release nitrogen and let more sun in. Eventually the trees will overtake the autumn olive
