The Substack model is inferior to Nostr’s value4value model. I’m always turned off by their insistence that I subscribe before I can finish reading something I’m interested in.

I’d happily zap it after reading it, but I won’t bother giving yet another site my email address.

The Substack model is based on a legacy monetary system, so it’s designed in such way. That’s where Nostr takes the advantage, being supported by much more robust infrastructure! 🐶🐾🫡

Substack as a stand-alone platform is pretty useless, writers have to build their audience elsewhere and bring them to substack which is antithetical to the interests of the other platforms..

Nostr just eats this from both ends - you have the audience and the platform on the same protocol so the incentives align properly.
