Since I've read Hold onto your kids, even before, I've become very agitated against schooling system. And I'm a teacher, ha. But nowadays it's so hard to raise them and stay alive, the family is only parents, often only a mother, and they're being beaten and criticized on daily basis. The model of family is fucked up, it was never a job for only two people. "Enjoy yourself, you've got time before you have kids" is a fucking lie that ruins decades of life.

But you go either with the system or you go absolutely punk, putting your hand into the fire. We don't have parents to help us, if they're 60+ for their first grandchildren. Our kids will not raise ok if they get ipad or phone to shut up when mommy wants to stay sane, because she's alone.

Community, tribes, big and young family. This died out concept hurts us most of them all.

So true. All by design so women work too. Then they get two cash cows, slowly increasing taxes, stealthily, until it is impossible to live on one wage!

When I joined the Fire Brigade I earned less than half what I earn today but could buy twice as much! That is the world they want us to be in

While I agree in principle, you know what is also true? Kids will be just fine. Even with iPads. Kids are incredibly resilient and the only thing you need to do is to be comfortable with yourself, because - surprise - they will turn out to be you.

And yes, my only regret is that I didn’t have kids as soon as I could. 40s would be immense fun with adult children.

Yup. I totally agree with this.

You can have anything you want but you can't have everything you want.

I busted my butt on my career until my first kid, lots of plans for future promotions. Now I'm coasting in my current job leaving stacks of cash on the table because more money would mean more work.
