With a web browser. It's been around since 1999 I think. Ancient web.

After you typed in fark into the browser, how did you enjoy the website?

For example did you lurk, how did you interact with others etc

I was a constant shit poster, and the Photoshop battles were amazing. It was great in its hey day, I had a lot of fun there.

What do you think is the β€œpitch” to the fark guy to get him to adopt nostr?

😬

He is right, and dare I say much of nostr probably agrees with this.

I'm not sure what the pitch would be. It's quite a long running project, and from what I remember he was opinionated and set in his ways. But that's why the site is still running 25 years later maybe.

What would they gain? They're cosy over there.

I think agoraroad forum would be a better bet.

But there are no Nostr forum clients anyway lol.

Not sure if I've mentioned this before lolol

> What would they gain? They're cosy over there.

This is key.

Maybe Find more farkers on nostr?

They would need some sort of forum client away from the microblogging bitcoin chatroom. It's the same old story lol.

And then people we say no no there's more than just bitcoin slogam stuff on nostr. You just need to find it. Trust me bro.

And then they'll leave.

Rinse and repeat.

(When people say nostr is just bitcoin chat, they aren't being totally literal, it's slightly hyperbole. I think it's pedantic when people report that it's not true. It's very much a huge part of Nostr. In fact people will say that's why they're here lol)

'Look we have a guy who does yo-yo tricks, look we have this one guy who makes ceramics.

Look it's not true, I swear.'

The fact that these people are so stand out proves the point, in fact.

What do you think of oddbean UI?

I quite liked it, haven't looked at that in ages. Not something I would use personally.

I also remember it being as useless ( content-wise) as the primal sidebar of slop

The reason I stayed on Nostr is because I got into Bitcoin πŸ’―

You joined nostr then got into bitcoin? No bitcoin before nostr?

That's probably a minority of people here.

Yeah I'd think so. If it weren't for that I might not be here.

How do? πŸ€”

How do what? πŸ˜‚

I'm trying to understand what you mean. Are you saying you wouldn't stay here if it wasn't for the bitcoin connection / content? Or you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for bitcoin? Or you wouldn't have bitcoin if it wasn't for Nostr. Lolol it doesn't. Matter I'm too confused

If I had joined Nostr, but had not became interested in Bitcoin, I don't think I would have stayed. There was not much else for content. It has gotten better by a tiny amount, but it's still primarily Bitcoin.

I enjoy the people here, and an outlet for creating images. But I look forward to the day I never make another Bitcoin meme again πŸ˜‚

I make art and photography that is not Bitcoin oriented. I have posted it in the past, but realized there is no point. Thankfully I enjoy making Bitcoin and Nostr memes too, so at least I have that as an outlet for creation worth posting here.

I think you might have a better chance onboarding Craigslist forums to nostr. Craigslist probably want to be rid of the responsibility of moderating it, that's why gumtree got rid of their forums.

Their UI is great.

Honestly how hard it to clone this? (I have no idea, it might be very hard and costly for all I know lol)

https://forums.craigslist.org/

Also cos they might just have less active daily users than Nostr lollol:)

But again there is no client to accommodate them.

Targeting single sites seems futile. Make Nostr into an equal to SSO like the Facebook, Google & Apple links to login every site has.

But what do people like my mom (who constantly needs to reset passwords) do when they inevitably lose their keys?

Nostr: control your identity with one key pair, easily switch from app to app. Your data is yours only.

Also Nostr: if your keys get compromised or lost, that data is out of access forever. Just start again from scratch with a new pair.

I think the second point gets hand waved away too easily. For a large part of the population this is a major show stopper. Losing your entire online presence with no way of recovery would be devastating for people, and that needs to be solved. If a site has a solution where users can recover from lost or forgotten passwords, what does Nostr offer in that regard?
