Bitcoin will probably continue to appreciate in value. My primary concerns for the future are

1. Insane taxes, including unrealised gains

2. Blacklisting of non-kyc wallets, including the threat of criminal charges if you use one or accept payments from one.

3. Arbitrary list of wallets that, if you ever trade with them, you are guilty by association.

Price will go up the same as always

Now is time to dump bitcoin to normies

In 5 years if you are bitcoiner you are the normie that doesnt understand tech

why not dca pricacy tech and maintain btc holding to benefit from network effect

I will not bless a blockchain working in majority against me, and i dont give a fuck in being in the biggest room.

Normaly the signal is in the smallest ones.

I'd agree but people have families, expenses and want to buy a house. you'll realistically never be able to buy a house with privacy tech savings. everyone will have to have one foot in regfi and hopfully the other one will be in privacy tech.

Trading freedom for comfort in not on my to do list

Is this a US concern or global?

Global, only 3 countries out of BIS scope

3 countries, for now. Nothing a new regime change war can't fix.

Fuck wars, salvation is individual

If it comes down to it, are you willing to leave those countries and live somewhere else?

Every region will have their own regs, but some of the things - like blacklists - could bleed through internationally.

It’s almost unfathomable to me to that the a significant proportion of bitcoin holders would comply with unrealized gains. It would be practically impossible to enforce that on self custodied bitcoin.

Yeah, I think that's why they have their plans and roll them out in stages. First, we ban non-custodial wallets. Get all their MSM mouthpieces spewing how these are a 'danger to democracy' and this will 'protect the kids'.

The reality is, if many countries coordinate such an effort, unless you literally want an asset that you can't move or else, you will have to comply to make it usable. After 15 years, one would have thought there would be bustling marketplaces with no oversight by now... but if anything, it's other chains like XMR that have these rather than Bitcoin.

Still, I'm building for both and will let the smarter people figure it out.

It’s not like it’s gonna be pretty, but I think probably that for every big powerful country that starts to oppress that hard, there will be several smaller countries looking to attract all that capital flight. People holding most of their wealth in bitcoin will actually have the capability of leaving. I realize this doesn’t help the majority of the population but what are ya gonna do

And in a sense, we'd be back to square one.

Funny, of those who have created insane amounts of wealth from being early, very few have used that to kickstart a bigger plan for adoption.

Can’t forget

You can only use if you have x amount of liquidity prior to use

Hey if they want to deny us peaceful revolution so be it. Either way, the system will fall. We are legion.

monero addresses all these PRIVACY concerns. the regfi/darkfi split is coming. did you think that the government would give up it's money creation power so easily anon?

Yeah, im so in love with DarkFI, the dark forest is AMAZING...

they are more bark than bite for the past n years, but this is great production quality.

Ive been inside, the direction is the correct no matter the velocity

Yes, agreed. Seems obvious that's why it is being delisted from exchanges.

I don't have the same confidence about Monero holding value the same way Bitcoin does, though. I still like it for payments, and I run nodes for both.

once all the laws are in place and only outlaws are free all the BTC cypherpunk larps will need to come to terms with reality. go KYC and be compliant or go dark. the price probably won't appreciate at the same rate as btc because of the lack of network effect but i'd imagine you'd see some appreciation.

I would still like to see some choice out there, like a handful of chains that offer various benefits that are all widely adopted.

But despite all the positives Bitcoin offers, there are some real potential issues with it just around the corner, once they start pushing more regulations in the space. It's all fun and games until 12 armed government thugs show up to relieve you of your holdings, or throw you in prison because you moved it into a different jurisdiction and never paid your taxes.

yeah right now i'm watching monero, darkfi and zcash.

Zano also looks interesting. I only hold some XMR and Bitcoin though, and I trade shitcoins because I can.

i've heard of it but the premine was a turnoff. I'm also mostly XMR/BTC once darkfi launches I'll merge mine it with monero

I haven't really heard much about Darkfi, must dig into that.

Ah okay, still in development. TBH there are a lot of small projects that all have varying degrees of potential, it's hard to keep up. But now this is on my radar 👌

Zano's projects are getting interesting ngl. I would also keep an eye on Firo, PirateChain, and Grin/Beam.

wownero or bust!

Also a coin worth monitoring.
