The reason you don't need anti-virus on your phone device is because mobile operating systems were designed with security as a foundational component. They were built with sandboxing, verified boot, modern exploit mitigations and more from the start. If you take your cybersecurity serious, stay away from desktop and stick to mobile devices.

What are your thoughts on App Armor. Doesn't it provide good sandboxing on desktop?

AppArmor, Snaps and Flatpaks are better than nothing. I would still not compare them to Android.

I don't think my google phone is safer than my desktop, but I know the weakest link is me.
