but a lot of people *want* to spend bitcoin more but don't always have too many opportunities to do so...

I am personally switching to a Bitcoin standard.

And you better believe it, if I see a square terminal. I’m going to ask to pay in bitcoin. (Especially if it was the shop owner).

Went full Bitcoin standard couple years ago. Best decision I ever made in many respects.

Not everything I pay for accepts bitcoin. But hey, we are trending there.

You don’t need everyone to accept bitcoin directly to have zero dollars personally. Good work arounds out there with minimal friction.
