The imprisonment of Assange for his work on WikiLeaks was one of the most unjust attacks on journalism of our time. I celebrate his freedom every day.
It's good to know Assange is free, but I'm still angry he was forced to plead guilty.
His charges should have been a top priority day 1 pardon for Obama, Trump 1, Biden, Trump 2, and most importantly the American voters, who have all failed Assange and other journalists worldwide
Obama couldn't have pardoned him, because he was only indicted under Trump 1. Many Trump voters conveniently forget that.
I forgot that too. And Trump 1 also tried to have Assange assassinated
However, I think Obama could have just given a blanket pardon to everyone involved in WikiLeaks at the time
The Obama administration was definitely after Assange too. They prosecuted others connected to WikiLeaks and 13 years ago Assange said Obama had "done more to criminalise free speech than any other US President"

Unfortunately he ended up taking a guilty plea instead of fighting for his innocence so the State still won. Regardless, I'm also glad he is free anyways.
