Separation of art from reality… usually.

Mostly, but if the messaging is too strong and the music not interesting then no.

For me, at least when it comes to music, I appreciate the artform 1st and the message second. If the message is something absolutely reprehensible or degenerate then I'll generally give it a hard pass. But if it is something as trivial as a differing political stance then I can let it slide for the enjoyment of the art. For example, RATM are quite commy. But damn they slap! 😆

Absolutely. Rob Zombie, for example. Great music, shit politics.

It is a hard one for me and usually does not work 🙃

Yes if the songs themselves aren't political

No problem. I actually never undersotood why we all give so much importance tonthe opinions of famous people. A singer/actor/footballer... Can be really good innwhat they do, but tha usually means the have no fucking clue about the rest of the things

It is just natural, if If spend most of my time studing economy and working in economy related stuff, I probably have an educated idea about economy, but my soccer skils will suck.

So the opinion of a singer on politics should have the same consideration than your neighbour opinion or a cab driver (just a random example I have nothing against the cab deivers)

I think we need to learn to separate art and politics. We are too fixated on politics in everywhere. That is why this total politic world is total shithole. There is nothing to take from an artist. In matters of politics they are ordinary human beings. As an actors, writers, etc.

sure, but I mostly search out music based on the message the artist is trying to convey, so I end up pretty well aligned with my favorite musicians, some more than others
