Perhaps you want to check out this discussion of the issue on the Nostr repo page. https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/issues/1036

At least superficially I find the idea of replace event tags pointing to a previous ID convincing.

Interesting... based on what the OP wrote in that issue, I think he's saying you'd just keep a history of replacement. Deletion doesn't really seem necessary, but having a per-note history where the newest version replaced the others and being able to review the full history of the note seems like it could be useful. Not even sure how feasible that really is though from the technical standpoint.

Which aspect looks unfeasible?

To me it makes sense when npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6 argues that protocol level unique basic note, event, IDs maintain simplicity, so pointing notes at other notes for replacement seems like a sensible next step.

trying the user tag again in another format

Alright, I fail to see a way to tag a user through their npub in nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955, and just typing "fiatjaf" comes up with way too many suggestions, none of them the actual fiatjaf

yeah we should have a way to wipe profiles, a lot of people renamed themselves as fiatjaf for a joke and now they are stuck in the profile search index.

the nuclear option would be to delete the app to clear the DB, but you will have to rebuild your profile DB afterwards by navigating around.

What speaks against enabling to type @ + npub for tagging?

That way users can make sure they tag the intended profile in all cases.

I tested this in Primal earlier, they convert the pure npub strings into tags. I just prefer running Damus out of the current iOS clients.

Or make the suggestions a full, scrollable list instead of a truncated selection.

yeah we will do that, should be easy to increase the search results to like 1000 instead of 20

Are there any future plans to bring Damus to Windows?

yup! just talked about that on our standup this morning. I have some small issues to fix but otherwise should be good to go:

Aw hell yeah 🤙

Oh, I wasn't trying to suggest it's not. I was just saying that meaning that I am still totally ignorant about 99% of the technical aspects of Nostr so I wasn't confident that what I was saying had any merit, haha.
