without products you can't use the energy.
without commodities you can build the products to generate the energy
without energy you can't harvest the commodities to build the products to use the energy
Yes but,
We’ve already got many of the products that use the energy. We need the commodities to build more of them and for machines/other outputs but that also requires the energy inputs to transform them.
Energy is at the top of the food chain for that reason. If no-one got a new computer for 5 years we’d survive just fine.
If no-one got access to oil for even 5 months we are in Mad Max.
and as a result everyone has the opportunity to be more resistant
