I'm pretty good at convincing people on the value of Bitcoin or decentralized data. You just have to do it in a way that makes sense or means something to outsiders:

A) You can own your followers because you created that relationship, not the platform. This is great for people who use social media realistically and doesn't promote cult behavior.

B) Peer-to-peer networks have been lost on the internet, we use to be able to upload music and share it with people instead of paying for Spotify. So that means we can program experience to transact data or money across networks instead of paying for a chunk monthly. For example, I can create an education app and have people connect their wallet or deposit $10 - then every 15 seconds of a video watched will send X% and send it to a school in need of more appropriate funding.

That's the way to do it - you have to spark people's imaginations in realistic ways! It tends to be eye-opening for folks. That's the principles that govern the decentralized edtech services I work on. Monetizing UX is a big deal and all education ultimately is a student's experience with learning. Many students believe their education's are fundamentally important to society and this makes that experience more concrete.
