WHAT IS APOLOGETICS?

The word apologetics comes from the Greek word “apologia”. It means a speech of defense, reply, or the act of making a defense. It provides the textual foundation for what is called “Apologetics”. Christian apologetics describes the discipline of providing cogent arguments and reasons for why the Christian belief system should be considered true. In scripture, Peter instructs his readers to always be at the ready to provide an oral defense for why they are a believer in Christ. The Christian viewpoint is not to be built on faith alone, it has from the very beginning been built on evidence and reason.

“…but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence”
