Can you suggest an alternative?
Well from what I understand the best solution is to use the original Bitcoin client and open bazaar which is a decentralised P2P exchange. I bought my first Bitcoin in around 2016 through a peer to peer exchange through a bank deposit, worked great. Good luck keep safe
