Exhibit A of why the worst in politics always wins. Imagine you’re playing basketball and the other team just picks the ball up and runs around without dribbling. You turn and look at the ref waiting for the travel call and the ref just looks at you and shrugs like there’s nothing he can do. You can either keep playing by the “rules” and lose by 60 or stop dribbling yourself and stay competitive. Either way the winner never follows the rules and the public is left being ruled by rulers and not rules

This is also true when it comes to cutting spending. Why would you not throw as much money as you can possibly get away with at the issues that matter to your party when the other party will do it once they’re in office. Party A can cut spending and get the libertarian brownie points but when Party B takes office and empties the bank on issues important to them who wins?
