If memory serves me right, the French justice issued a warrant against him, for corruption, money laundry, and for distracting public funds. They have seized his luxury cars and apartments in France, all financed with the country's resources (mostly oil) and foreign aid.
(Foreign 'aid', a government program that forcefully transfers money from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries, has massively failed the continent. Eq. Guinea is not an isolated case.)
