Not a fan of the way these contests are being judged will not participate anymore
Discussion
Iβve weighed the cons & pros of community votes many times, if Iβm ever able to get 9 admins for this project we could discuss a voting council, but until then this seems to be the most fair way
if you have ideas & suggestions Iβm all ears, Iβve always been n asked feedback from the community pertaining to this
Iβve given you my feedback before. The contest will never be fair the way it is. The influencer memers have an unfair advantage compared to the plebs who donβt have a following. There doesnβt need to be 9 people to vote on a meme contest. How did you come up with that number?
Was it like this:
Sleepy: Wakes up at 3PM and turns on zap.stream
Odell: You know whatβs better than 7 board members? 9 board members!
Gigi: yeah it will be harder to rig.
NVK: yeah and we can use it as marketing material.
Odell: WE HAVE 9 BOARD MEMBERS SO ITS MORE FAIR.
Sleepy: I need to have 9 board memers for my nostr memes contest.
I donβt remember your feedback which is why i asked, but if you wanna just write a rage bait note instead of giving it thatβs cool too, just remember you didnβt really say anything.
also you n noshole have won before, are you guys influencer memers?
I responded with a funny made up story. My feed back was there should be judges I thought you knew that and was why you said you need 9 people to judge. 3 judges is fine especially if they are randomly chosen each week.
The like and zap thing doesnβt work especially for people who are in #onlyzap mode (they canβt like notes.)
Another way would be to have all the entries DMβed to you or the nostr memes account. Then the nostr meme account creates a note with all the meme entries and users can vote by selecting an entry number and submitting it in the comments. This would be similar to how artist critique their peers artwork by pinning up all the artwork from the group without attaching the artist names and getting real hardcore criticism from everyone. Sometimes it can be difficult for people to express their true opinion when knowing to much irrelevant information such as the artistβs name.
3 randomly chosen judges weekly wonβt work unfortunately I donβt have time to organize that every single week, once it stops being fun n simple for me Iβll stop doing it. (I run a bunch of alt npubs aside from IRL stuff)
the suggestion you just gave about anon submissions has been attempted before, you can check the notes from months ago, 2 things less people participated and engaged in voting. & it also took a shit ton more work.
Iβd honestly love it if people took the ideas and improved on it on their own, Iβd be supportive of plebs starting their own meme contest initiatives with their own frameworks, this is what I assumed would happen when I took a break but nope.
