there is another technology potentially more powerful than AI, which i read about 20 years ago but haven't heard of it since for some reason ...

it's using automated mutation / evolution / natural selection feedback loop ...

at the time i read about it - it was used to design electrical circuits and it was out-performing human designs creating smaller, simpler circuits with better performance ...

i see no reason why it can't be applied to coding ...

i also wonder where did this tech go ? it seems that mentioning it has become forbidden just like genetically engineering humans is illegal even though we have the tech ...

if you combine this tech with AI and some liquid cooled supercomputers it's game over for humans ...

If youre curious about evolutionary computation/algorithms, the Coding Train has very accessible videos and coding tutorials explaining them. There's tons of research combining evolution and learning. Evolution is slow both biologically and in computers, learning is very fast. Combining them is nothing special because /we/ need to define the goals the programs optimize for.

What you're concerned with is called "Open ended evolution" and "open ended learning" describes the more biological concept of agents that create their own goals from their senses - but so far, it seems to be way farther from where we are now with AI.
