Yeah. It doesn't say they can't be arrested or anything. Rather they cannot be detained to slow a vote. After the vote, they can absolutely be arrested however.

I presume they have more rights if they have diplomatic immunity when they travel

Absolutely not. It is merely a function of not allowing local police or a state to stop a federal vote.

It stems from the old days of days long trips by buggy to Washington. Not a 2hr flight, lol
