"We are chosen because God cares for us and because He wants to demonstrate His mercy."

> This may be true from an eternal perspective, but it is important to avoid complacency. How do you really know you are one of the chosen? There are lots of people who go to church and parrot words from a book who turn around and do or support terrible things.

"He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good." (Proverbs 19:8)

> These two things are not mutually exclusive and I would caution you against assuming that seeking wisdom is selfish. Doing good is not just good for you, it's good for everyone. And that's wisdom.
