Isn't that just a human condition? Humans naturally are afraid of change, afraid of the unknown. That's why we put things into these little conceptual boxes and say I uneducated the whole problem. But the problem is much deeper than mind can comprehend.
Sure they will fight back but it's like we say in zen "trying to push the river". They will tire themselves out attempting to stop the inevitable reality of change. Change is the only constant and you flow with the way or you'll be dragged by the river.
