Looking forward to this book. This is was what I had hoped you would cover in Mind Decentralised. I really wanted to understand how you identified unneeded programs running & how to close them.
In terms of the computer metaphor, most computers have long term storage (hard disk) & short term storage (RAM). When a program is running it uses some RAM for the information that the program needs to access quickly. This RAM is used even if you're not actively using that program, it's still running in the background. It might even be using some CPU power occasionally. This all drains the computer's resources & can affect the performance of other programs.
As an observation, you spent a lot of time describing your metaphor & less describing how it relates to the body. I assume that you're clearing out unneeded programs & optimising the needed programs (ie the way they run). I imagined optimising the diet as a way to upgrade the hardware on your computer & make things run smoother (like installing larger/faster RAM modules).
I'm hoping this helps a bit to tighten up your analogy & doesn't sound too critical.
