Giving up spam filters in bitcoin is like giving up spam filters in email.
It's the dumbest and most stupid thing I've ever heard, but it's normal, these same people probably got a COVID vaccine or two.

Everyone is talking about op_return, but that's just one more thing.
The key issue is that Core has completely given up on filters.
The segwit discount problem is solved with filters, as knots has demonstrated. Core gave up on solving it and many others. In fact, as I said, since version 26, practically no filters work anymore.
If we use the same argument for email, we would also have given up on spam filters, and as I say, if filters were part of the consensus, they would not work because the forms of attack are dynamic and change every day.
Filters have worked very well for 15 years until these idiots gave up on applying them in the SegWit discount.
If they receive money from the CIA, I understand, but anyone who supports this without receiving money is simply a being who lacks the instinct for survival.
