I showed and explained Nostr to some people quite a while ago and set up an npub - but beyond one or two posts, nobody really showed any engagement, and the accounts remained inactive.
But in the last few weeks, several of these people have independently contacted me and asked me to explain 'Nostr' to them again, without me mentioning Nostr of my own accord.
Is Nostr too hard?
Personally, I don't think so. When I introduce people to Nostr, I always say: It's fundamentally different from other social media because it mirrors real life more authentically. You're truly in the driver's seat.
And here's the fascinating part: this is precisely the same challenge most people face in their everyday lives - recognizing that they actually have the power to take control. This is the hurdle per se.
Anyone for whom this hurdle is already too high, or too inconvenient, will probably not be able to contribute much to Nostr or derive much benefit from it.
Or simply doesn't need social media in their life, which is also okay.
I have just as many friends who don't use social media at all and are by no means stupid or ignorant.
