What if the world wasn't quite as predictable as generally assumed?
A path you know your whole life could one day lead to other places, other worlds. You could turn a corner, or in this case, go ashore, and find yourself in a totally different world, with different ways different things, and you think, "that's odd, when did all these foreigners move here? But then you look closer - what the heck are they wearing? What language is that? And you begin to get a funny feeling... You turn around and try to go back, but there's no way back. The corner you turned doesn't turn back to familiar places.
And there's no way back... to this world. Its as if it never was, and you're the one strange person in all the world that doesn't fit in - because you're not from here. Except, every once in a while, if you're lucky, or unlucky, a straight line will continue straight through space, as it always does, but for a moment, curves into the unexpected. Some creatures know the ways - like those giant white rabbits that wear top hats and monocles. Here in a blink... And gone in a blink.
