Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram, was arrested in France for the “crime” of allowing his users to have private, encrypted conversations.

Privacy is not a crime. Encryption is not a crime. And even if some corrupt states consider them crimes, they will never be crimes in the eyes of God.

The ongoing attack on freedom of speech in Europe is what is criminal.

private encrypted is to exaggerate..

if the users chose their homemade bullshit "encryption" (that is not enabled by default) It's just a matter of minutes to Crack that bullshit.

True. Telegram is not ETEE and not as secure as Signal, but still more secure than the typical messaging app. He should not have been arrested for lack of moderation in any case.
