Truth is liberating as long as it is truth in love.

1 John 3:18–21 (RSV2CE): 18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth. 19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth, and reassure our hearts before him 20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God;

1 John 4:16–21 (RSV2CE): 16 So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 ¶ In this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. 19 ¶ We love, because he first loved us. 20 ¶ If any one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should love his brother also.

But sometimes, we must defend love from harm:

Psalm 82:4 (RSV2CE): 4 Rescue the weak and the needy;

deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Those who live in lies are cursed:

Isaiah 5:20 (RSV2CE): 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,

who put darkness for light

and light for darkness,

who put bitter for sweet

and sweet for bitter!

24 Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble,

and as dry grass sinks down in the flame,

so their root will be as rottenness,

and their blossom go up like dust;

for they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,

and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Tell the truth:

John 8:32 (RSV2CE): 32 ¶ and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

25 ¶ Therefore, putting away falsehood, let every one speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

So yes, go all in on truth, as long as it is spoken in love. Vengeance should be held though, until it no longer can be. The Father will deal with that mightily on our behalf, and knows when mercy is no longer an option, which we do not.

Romans 12:19 (RSV2CE): 19 ¶ Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
