> The UK government continues to want more interception capability on messaging

As nostr:npub14v209s7r6n6p6vqs3nn6hqkzm9wmyzhdtcy4z77v9d8un8n6yw4snu4xfk said, it's not alone. The NZ and Oz govts (also 5 Eyes) are also proposing backdoors on all encryption for law enforcement. We've got an important job to do, convincing all govts that this is both a monumentally stupid idea and a boon to Bad Actors online (more ransom attacks, yay!), but also profoundly anti-democratic and a violation of universal human rights.

FYI I'll be writing about this in the next couple of weeks for a Snikket blog piece, looking at how a bunch of legislation coming down the pipeline could affect decentralised chat services like Snikket.
