So far, I have found the principles in proverbs about how to live to generally be good advice on how to be a better father, husband, and person. Additionally, during a tough time, I found solace in the books of Ecclesiastes and Job. They helped me understand that not everything is within my control, and that life is filled with ups and downs. It taught me to be content with the ebb and flow of circumstances and to prioritize my relationship with God, regardless of the season I find myself in.

I find that many of the principals of “spirituality” that are so prevalent today are simply less fleshed out versions of what historical monotheistic religions, particularly Christianity teaches.

Religion has been used as a cudgel for so long that many have turned away from the institutions that are supposed to teach ancient wisdom.
