on bluesky: when I came to nostr, and when I go to SSB and even mastadon… despite having nothing in common maybe even a directly opposing philosophy to other users, I could still see they were trying to care about what was under the hood… and to different degrees of technical sophistication sharing that with each other. I don’t find that’s true of bluesky… it’s twitter power users trying to secure their clout in a gated community before the flood gates open.

I haven’t found that at all in my month or so there, but, in fairness, 75% of the people on Bluesky have been there less than a week.

aside from a few posts of people replying to the majority referring to it as bluesky, “actually this is at protocol” I don’t see much conversation about the eccosystem, interest in self hosting, or people trying out any of the web clients.

No, there isn’t much of that yet, outside of the bsky team themselves. Unlike nostr, nearly all development on the protocol and the app thus far is by the Bluesky team, not individuals and upstarts.
