I think the why people abandon Nostr and Bitcoin is in my opinion, it's because they don't truly understand the purpose behind these protocols. When it comes to Bitcoin, people often jump on the bandwagon when the price is skyrocketing, but as soon as the hype dies down, they lose interest. It's a classic case of NGU syndrome.

As for Nostr, I believe people initially see it as a Twitter alternative, but they soon realize it's a different beast altogether. Unlike Twitter, Nostr doesn't have an addictive algorithm that feeds them content. Instead, users need to actively seek out and follow the people they're interested in. Unfortunately, many people aren't used to taking control of their feed, and as a result, they quickly lose enthusiasm. If they don't make an effort to follow others, their feed remains empty, and they abandon ship.

It's a shame, because both Nostr and Bitcoin have so much more to offer beyond their surface-level appeal. But until people take the time to understand the underlying principles and values, they'll continue to jump from one shiny object to the next, never truly experiencing the benefits of these innovative protocols.

Now it's time to go back to the basics and theach the reality of this tools, Bitcoin is freedom and uncensorship money when we self custody it, and nostr is the uncensorship speech!

The lesson here is, when people get in my the wrong reasons they will leave as fast as they joined!

You are most definitely right about that. However, at least some small fraction will join for the hype and then they will understand the reasons behind it and stay even during the bear markets and such. And those are the people who we will retain. I heard something I agree with that said, everybody will buy at the price they deserve. And I could not agree with that more.

I adapted to Nostr pretty quickly because I started on Facebook before the algorithm existed.

I longed for a return to the pre-algorithm days and Nostr gave me that.

I'm forever thankful.

One must understand the principles behind it, once understood it's impossible to go back.

IMHO, social media is the initial use case for #nostr but the not the killer use case. Reminds me of the early days of the web when everyone set up their own home page, then abandoned. It might take a few iterations, but I believe #nostr will give rise to an entirely new ecosystem that we have not yet envisioned.

I've been thinking the exact same thing, but I have to admit the uncensorable usefulness of nostr to freedom & political activists is off-the-charts obvious. I'd be surprised if it doesn't catch on as a social media where all 'dangerous talk' is done. That ain't peanuts.

A lot of it is still hypothesizing, bordering on crazy-talk, but the sooner we figure out the core value and essence, the better.
