What if we're wrong in opposing cults and mind viruses? What if cults, movements, and manias are the highest and best thing society can offer? Should life be a humdrum 9-5 and a 401k? Fuck it, pick something and be a fanatic. Its better than the alternative. Ride the exultative wave of obsession and irrationality. Instead of society being a neutral blank slate, a gravitational force to mediocrity, an eternally mowed lawn - why not a mass chant, a humming of shared dreams, a cosmic rhythmic drumming pounding of competing visions for humanity living in alien ways?

It is when something has unaddressed issues in efficacy that makes them a cult. The 401k causes you to lose your purchasing power and give your economic value to rent seekers. That's why you oppose these logical traps. A lack of a corrective mechanism.

Corrective mechanisms (Why do I feel like that word should be mechana? Doesn't even make sense...) would be much more satisfying is they were accompanied by loud booms. I wanna be a pirate.
