I heard a rake recently, which says capitalism comes from capital, as in the all caps corporate fiction that is assigned to us at birth, rather than meaning free trade. Made sense

Capital is Latin for "head". It is a durable good that you can count as your own, and that can be used to gain other goods or services. It is property.

A shovel

A bag of silver coins

A sturdy wooden stick

Some real estate

A barrel of whiskey

Intellectual property can also be capital.

So, if someone forces you to document your IP in some particular way or in some particular place, they can control your use of your IP.

So free trade in IP requires the ability to document as you wish.

We would have to use a p2p mesh network

so when we capitalize our names are we the property of someone or some corporation? Owned by a hierarchy? Who owns the all caps name?

That depends upon who controls access to it. If anyone does.
