This is the number of times per second that all miners combined try to solve the proof of work.

Ah I see, but that is an estimate for an individual block. Most miners will use the 7 day average to smooth out the volatility of vastly ranging hash rate estimates. Iโll be impressed when the 7 day average hits the 1 ZH/s threshold. Thanks for the link.
