The concise gospel of Jesus Christ is: "adoption through propitiation." - J. I. Packer

"Adoption" because we are not born as natural sons of God, but instead we are born at enmity with him; children of wrath by nature; blind to, and unwilling to enter, his kingdom; lost and dead in our sins. By nature, we reject the Creator and worship the creation (including our own self).

"Propitiation" because in order to fix this--in order to replace our enmity with God for friendship with him, Christ Jesus fully paid for all the sins we had committed, and lived the perfect life that we had omitted. In return, he got what we deserved, and we get what he deserved. This is the message of [Isaiah 53](https://esv.org/Isaiah+53) -- the "good news of great joy for all the people."

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

No other love compares to the love of God expressed through His son Jesus.
