My husband has been training me in saying no directly.

I had to learn that if I say no, the other person is going to be okay. My culture taught me to never inconvenience other people, even to the point of them needing to say no. So if I needed a ride somewhere, I'd ask in a way where they could now out without needing to say the words, and they did the same to me.

My husband taught me that if someone asks me to do something, there always needs to be an option of saying no, or else it's not a question but a demand.
