My great great grandfather literally built a house out of dirt, cut from the quarter section of land he was afforded by the Canadian government. My family still lives on that land.

Lucky to get land given to him.

These days migrants don't get free land given to them...

Migrants these days get their rent & food paid for, free healthcare coverage & education, and a monthly stipend for entertainment.

Our ancestors had none of those. This was a time before roads or any of the amenities of life you take for granted. The closest civilization was days away by horse, the fastest mode of transportation at the time. They were the ones who built what we have now. They took that land, built a house out of it, and used it to grow the food that let their families survive. They built the roads. There was no store to buy food at, no hospital, no school. My grandmother was one of the first teachers in a one room schoolhouse that still stands a mile from the ranch I was raised on. Nothing existed, so they willed it into existence with hard work and determination.

Your premise is flawed.
