there is, and always will be war on information

information is currency

while freedom maximalist want to make as much information free as possible,

others want to keep the information they think they own as a scarce resource

scarcity creates value, if there is any inherent value to begin

different kinds of information that is currently made artificially scarce, thus rising their market price

- copyright protected information

- secret information held by organizations, governments

- illegal information, such as written threats on social media, cp

war on information is not fundamentally different from war on drugs

both have failed

neither never worked

because anything that has demand, has price

anything that has price, has markets

as freedom maximalists, our mission is to maximize freedom of information

it will always be war between entities who think they own or control some piece of information, and us

who will make it freely available

we need two things

we need platforms, protocols, to publish information

and we need people who publish information

not only we need uncensored protocols to publish information,

also we need permance, because there are three kinds of ways battles are fought in this war

1) there are preventive measures, those try to prevent the leak of information

2) there are early measures, those remove the content as soon as it is published

3) there are late preventive measures, those remove the content eg on request by goverment entity

however, all of these can be prevented:

publish on uncensorable protocols, like nostr, publish on multiple relays

this might or might not work however

we have seen that usenet is highly censored place

we might know some file has some identifier, but the content is simply not available

we should use tor more
