Autogynephilia (AGP) is a paraphilia characterized by an erotic fixation on the idea of oneself as a woman. AGPs are almost always straight (some may identify as bisexual), and after transitioning they usually identify as a lesbian. Some are attracted to other AGPs, but some are still only interested in women, so this has led to lesbians once again dealing with sexual harassment from straight men who think they “just haven’t tried the right dick yet”.

AGP is not just the satisfaction associated with feeling attractive. The arousal comes from a man imagining himself as a woman, or from having other people “recognize him” as a woman, or using women’s facilities, etc. While AGPs that eventually transition aren’t walking around with erections 24/7, the desire to transition is still rooted in a paraphilia, and the “euphoria” they describe is often accompanied by at least a bit of a chub, especially in the early years.
