2nd hand shops are insanely expensive. I think the internet and retro fashion ruined this. You basically have to go to small towns and rural areas to find normal prices nowadays 🙄

Small towns and rural areas are the only sane places left.

I suspect you're right

You are correct. Retro fashion hawks buy up all the good stuff and sell it for a small ransom to idiots.

But also these shops are increasingly aware of this so they put the price up

The whole point of charity shops was never to charge a fortune for clothes to raise money.

The cheap clothes WERE the fucking charity.

But they also do this across the board, so you have ridiculous scenarios like eg a rubbish Primark shirt in a 2nd hand shop is the same price or more expensive than brand new in Primark. Insane.

Had the same happen for vanity taps in a habitat for humanity store, $5 more than the used tap I can get a new one

Ran into this with some old navy overalls I found last week. The store wanted $20! Like buddy, someone bought those new for less than that probably 🙄

Pretty sure they just look up the eBay price and someone is selling it as brand new or trying to sell at that price at least. And they think, yep, that's the market price

😤 they had "vintage" in their store name and I think it went to their head, asif old navy is vintage lol. I will try a different shop tomorrow, a plain ole thrift one, no vintage bs.

this is true where im @ too
