Get your relays situated. Use a few paid ones. Things are still being improved upon and there will be intermittent lag.

Thank you for reply. Someone gave me link to buy a relay, but payment was in bitcoin & didn’t have enough.
And thinking about it later maybe that was good thing, cause don’t really understand what im buying, or if it’s worth it
What you need to do is choose a client to use like damus, iris, etc. Make sure that you're not logging in on your computer and your phone at the same time because having 2 clients open kinda makes it more difficult. Get one client, setup your nips, your profile etc. When it comes to relays, they're literally like 2 dollars USD. get a few paid ones, mix in 2 or 3 free ones. Remember that relays can lag, and the more you add the more the universal thread throws at you. You need to reduce your number of active relays, try to find a few that are fast, and basically cut the massive amount of data attempting to flood your nostr client.
Ok so my question is how do you see which relay content comes from?
Content comes from ALL the relays. That's the point. It's just that some relays are faster than others, and also you have to consider that the relays and nostr are still being evolved in real time. What you need to do is find the relays that are FAST for you, and limit the amount of trash/universe data flooding your nostr. Like i said, get 4-6 paid relays, and add 2-3 non paid relays that are fast and reliable. Even then, you're still going to experience types of lag depending on your client, the relays, and other factors. As more support comes out, things will get faster.
Are relays similar to VPN’s in that the closer the relay is located to me the faster the relay will be?
I cant be sure about that I'd have to ask. But for the interim just trim your relays back a LOT, add some paid relays, then give it a few to sync up. Until you go through the initial process of pruning relays and adding and deleting them to get things "fast" you're going to experience rando issues with lag, being hit with mad data, etc.

Honeslty you dont need to use a VPN with nostr, at all. I dont know who told you that but they are doubling your latency issues. You should be fine using your ordinary IP. Make sure that you prune your relays, add a few paid relays, like I stated previously, and also be prepared to wait a little bit for things to sync up. Until you get your nostr client streamlined and setup efficiently, you're going to have to deal with a lot of lag, things that dont seem to be working fast, etc.
