BTW if any of you want to buy 2nd hand Neumann (and sennheiser, shure, akg) microphone, be very caucious or just don't do it at all. Aliexpress clones are fore sometime now very hard to make apart from the real deal. They even copy the brochures, mounts and cases. What you get is a working mic, often not a terrible one, but not the same thing you wanted to buy.

One thing is when you buy it from aliexpress, it might be even useful for modding etc. Other thing is scammers selling fakes as originals at relatively high prices. And I repeat it is hard to spot fakes from photos unless it's some model you know isn't copied (yet). Vintage models for example. For now anyways.

It is obvious the western companies have no leverage to shut this down for years. Maybe also benefiting from 2ndhand market being less trustworthy rn.

Nooo😮 I absolutely can't tell and now feel like the one I bought in music store doesn't feel good enough😮

Damn it. I bought everything in my cinema gear second hand. Maybe those times are gone now…

You're probably fine, I only heard a rumour that there are fake mkh416s, but never encountered one on ebay/reverb. That doesn't mean they don't exist.

It's getting difficult, I've been buying audio equipment 2nd hand for decades now 😬 and this is happening for like 4 years now?

This is two years old video that helped a friend not to buy a fake U87Ai for more or less typical 2nd hand price of the original. It was slightly cheaper then normal, but only very slightly. And that's only because he could see it in person and also look inside.
