I was at Home Depot today looking at appliances. Later, I scrolled IG and waddayaknow an ad for HD appliances is front and center.

Question: does getting an Above Phone remove this creepy feature? Anyone use one and are you happy with it?

Pls don't tell me to get off IG. I know already. Working on it.

happened to me too searching for some items

They will track everything if you let them.

Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, mobile.

And then if you don't have a de-googlefied phone (Graphene, Calyx, Divest, Lineage, e) the operating system will spy on you. And then if you rely on non open source apps like IG, it will spy on you. And then if you browse something without all ads deactivated (unlock and NoScript) and cross site cookies they will spy on you. And now if you don't use Tor, i2p or at least a VPN they will spy on your IP.

If you do all those things the internet becomes a place with much more signal to noise ratio, but also not nearly as stimulating as those colourful, shiny and well designed websites you are used to. Also many sites use cloudflare and if you enter from Tor/VPN without script activated you get a blank page in 90% of cases.

It's good to know which services not to give any business, though.

Good luck and a lot of stamina to follow through. It's worth it to get back to the essence.

😩(adding all of this to my "must learn about" list...)
