It's hard to sew for kids when a new bought thing costs the same as lunch and I don't spend hours on it.
But dammit, when I make a piece of clothing, it could withstand a war. Bought stuff twirls and frays after one wash. And so much polyester everywhere🤢

💯 This is why we started looking into HBG: Even "Bitcoin swag" we saw was printed on cheap material and expensive for what it is. Whereas "old" and 2nd hand clothes have a lot more 'body' and character 😊.

I am no sewist, oh my god, don't follow me for that😨🤣 I bought an old machine during covid, made some pants and overalls for my baby boys out of old sweatpants and stuff, making a back-zipper jacket for carrying a baby on my back was the absolute peak. 😃 Like I can't probably even sew straight and fear the day I will attempt my first pants for myself.😅
But the whole thing is fairly easy once you get a pattern and understand/follow the basics, especially for kids. And I learned a LOT about the whole industry, that was very eye-opening. Slowly working my way towards the hate of polyester or viscose, especially so proclaimed bamboo stuff due to the chemical process.
As you said, upcycling is awesome. My husband's old, wornout and ripped Armani undershirt had just enough fabrics for the kid - and it came out sturdy as hell, excellent fabrics. The shit in cheap stores is a nightmare.
