its not a client issue

you can read up about how it happens if you search but i dont have a resource off the top of my head at the moment

Fair enough, well if anyone else can tell me that'd be great coz if it's not a client issue it's out of my control and I'd like to be able to mitigate against it. On #Amethyst I don't even see an option for backing up my follow list which could be a pain.

The best way to mitigate WAS to use the back up file option. The site i used months ago was Nostrify and it let you save a back up of your follows as well as all your events.

They have since migrated to nostrsync.live but no longer have that feature that i remember for follows, so its just a back up file for events now.

This is another good tool I discovered today and was recommended by others: https://heguro.github.io/nostr-following-list-util/

here is one more: https://metadata.nostr.com/

These ones will take the existing data from browser database and rebroadcast it, so for it to work you have to visit somewhat regularly.

Cheers, I'll keep that list handy - I've backed up events using nostrsync previously and check out that new tool
