Dismiss how? Ignore? By leading with the true narrative?
If someone uses a lie to fuel an argument, you dont engage in that debate. Speak the truth and walk away.
If someone tells you something that you know is not true, you present the truth as a counter and walk away.
But you should never consciously let a lie pass your lips either explicitly or implicitly.
This was Solzhenitsyn's thesis in Live Not By Lies as a way to subvert those who seek to subvert the truth.
