Weird. I just checked for my 2014 and it ends support at big sur.

Oh youโ€™re right. Mac OS is running but havenโ€™t done the update last year ๐Ÿ˜‚

But the one running on it still runs ok

I'd check what version, Big Sur is 5 years old, 2020. Last security updates were in sept 2023 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Time for Linux! ๐Ÿ˜…

Luckily this is not the main computer ๐Ÿคฃ

It's easy. I can give you tips ๐Ÿ‘

Must be easier even than installing server version Iโ€™m guessing

I need something everyone can use. Maybe Debian

I'd say the opposite. There's more software and hardware to get working right on a laptop. Luckily Linus used a MBA bank in the day so it's well supported. My recommendation.

MX Linux, it's a Debian distro with a lot of tools to make life easy. It has all the drivers for Wi-Fi, BT, etc included.

Make sure to install mbpfan to control the thermals better.

That's about it, after that is up to what you want to install on it. My '14 is still a useful machine that way.

I want node to have a good experience not hate life ๐Ÿ˜‚

He's already familiar with Debian, no need to throw Gentoo in the mix.

Heat and pressure makes diamonds.

Grit and sand provides irritation to oysters which results in pearls.

I strongly vote for nostr:nprofile1qqsp3yzapfwkyw4cr2vt4xx9s27474lj2pkxhqyfqh79n826pv3fkzqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhs7f4kg2 to suffer so he produces pearlescent diamond results.

Bookmarked this. Thanks!

Of course. If you have any questions you know where to find me ๐Ÿ˜‚
