New signups for nostr.wine are down drastically in the last month. I certainly expected it to slow down after the initial boost, but it seems there aren’t many new users atm.

Perhaps we need to shift some of our attention to onboarding new people to nostr. Maybe a web portal that shows you what you’re missing (popular recent posts) and then helps you create an account and follow some of those people? Who’s working on things like this?

Yep. I’ve seen this in my data as well. Consolidation around stable daily active pubkeys, which is still double what it was a couple months ago, but perhaps fewer new faces.

I don’t know if it is content related, not understanding relays, global spam issues, not understanding keys or how to use browser extensions, unable to find people to follow, maybe country app bans played a part, etc. Unable to find trends or news content easily. Maybe slow apps.

Collectively I think we need to try understand first experiences better. Maybe clients can ask in-app? At the same time, growth comes in spurts too.

Web integration is probably a bad idea (for the moment). Technologies that begin merely interfacing with the web, tend to be absorbed and superseded by some web-specific standard.

The web is, in this way, 'embrace extend extinguish:' the technology.

There is a lot of inertia, capital, and existing investment in the web. Until you are at least David, you probably shouldn't go and ask Goliath over for tea.

Best not to invite the web in until you are properly arrayed to defeat it forever.
