ok well I'm not sure anymore. I am backing up his phone with Samsung Smart Switch for Windows, but I'm not sure if it lets you then restore that data to a non-Samsung phone.

What app can I use to safely backup all data? Including photos, apps, settings etc..

And restore it to another phone? Yes, this sounds very Apple and I'm sure stuff won't work out across different phones but I've never done this with an Android device before.
